How do I link an authenticator app?

Make your account more secure by linking an authenticator app. You can use any authenticator app you prefer, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.

Note: you can turn off or change your authenticator app anytime you like. However, to secure your assets, you won't be able to withdraw funds, for example, within 24 hours of changing your authenticator app.

How to download Authenticator App

1. Download app through OKX App

Open the OKX app, go to the Main menu, select Profile and Settings, navigate to Security, and select Authenticator app under the Authentication methods section to begin your setup.

2. Download Authenticator App through App Store or Google Play Store

If you're using an Apple Device, search and download the Authenticator app through the App Store.For Android devices, you can download the app from Google Play (your device must be able to access Google services). It is also available on major app stores such as Huawei AppGallery, Xiaomi App Store, OPPO App Store, and vivo App Store.If Microsoft Authenticator is not available in the app store on your device, you can first install any of the app stores mentioned above and then download it from there.

Link an Authenticator App

On the app

1. Add an Account

Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code or manually enter the Setup code in the authenticator app. You may name the account for easier identification.

2. Enter the Verification Code to Complete the Setup

Check the latest verification code displayed in your authenticator app and enter it in the New Authenticator App field to complete the setup.
Note: Please make sure to securely store your private key. If you change or lose your phone, you may be unable to log in without it. To protect your funds, withdrawals will be disabled for 24 hours after your authenticator app is reset.

On the web

1. Log in to your account at okx.com and go to the Security center (Profile icon > Security)

2. Find Authenticator app in the Security center and select Set up

3. Open your existing authenticator app or download and install one if needed. After opening or installing the app, click Next

4. Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code or manually enter the Setup code in the authenticator app

   • Tips: As different applications may have different interfaces or settings, we encourage you to follow the instructions in your authenticator app.

5. Once you've added your OKX account to the authenticator app, select Next in your web browser

6. From your authenticator app, obtain the 6-digit verification code it shows you, and type that code into the web browser

7. After completing these steps, your authenticator app will be successfully linked

8. (Optional) For enhanced security, we recommend disabling cloud sync on your authenticator app
