Why do I have assets in my account but can't open position?

Some users may encounter an issue when trade futures: why can't they open a position even though there are assets in their account? This could be due to two reasons: assets are frozen or insufficient margin.

1. Assets frozen due to occupation

Assets in the user's trading account are used for other transactions. If there are maker orders that haven't been filled or positions occupying margin, the assets will be frozen and cannot be used to open new positions.

For example, if you have 100 USDT in their trading account and places a limit order to buy BTC with 60 USDT in spot trading that hasn't been filled, then this 60 USDT will be frozen, and you won't be able to use this 60 USDT to open a futures position.

You can cancel maker orders in spot trading, or transfer USDT from other accounts to the trading account to open a position.

2. Insufficient margin

Futures operate on a margin system, so you need to have enough margin to open a position. If there aren't enough assets in your account to serve as margin, you won't be able to open a position. Since prices fluctuate, the margin required to open each futures position also changes.

If you encounter this situation, you can either reduce the number of futures you open or transfer more assets into the corresponding account to complete the opening of the position.

Example: When the number of contracts on the page is 100, you can choose to open 90 or 95 contracts. This not only leaves room for price fluctuation, but also reserves the corresponding fees.
