That creates plenty of data. But not necessarily useful data. Vangrid flips the model. Someone requests a specific location, puts up a USDC bounty on Base, and contributors compete to capture it. One submission gets accepted, and the reconstruction is already tied to the payment. So instead of: “Here’s some data I happened to collect.” It becomes: “Someone actually needs this, and they’re willing to pay for it.” That changes the incentive completely. The real test, though, isn’t whether people will capture something cool. It’s whether someone will pay to capture something boring. A warehouse corner. A loading dock. A random street nobody wants to photograph. Because that’s where useful spatial data probably starts.
